The LPL is finally back up and going, and we’ve gotten our first taste of the fun season that lies ahead. Things got kicked off with a match between FunPlus Phoenix and JD Gaming, which ended up being rather one-sided. This comes despite the disappointing start to the season that FPX encountered when they won just one game and lost two in January before the LPL was postponed.

What players had to endure: Leading up to the resumption of LPL, all players were required to complete a 14-day monitored quarantine period in addition to meeting local health requirements before they were allowed to resume participation in the league. Because of this, both FPX top-laner Khan and JD jungler Zoom were absent from the series.

How the match progressed: FPX was back to its original self and dealt with JD confidently, aggressively, and kill-heavily. JD was at something of a disadvantage with the absence of Zoom as he is the team’s best player. So without him around to dictate the early game progression, FPX took full advantage throughout the game and won the series 2-1.

FPX will next face off against SinoDragon on Friday, March 13 in their next series.
