Esports continues to flourish worldwide as famous gamers become commonplace in everyday life. Among entrepreneurs, scientists, artists and celebrities, OG Anathan “ana” Pham sits proudly on the Forbes’ 30 under 30 Asia list. Joined on the list by Se-yeon “Geguri” Kim, the first female player to compete in Overwatch League, ana’s hard work and unparalleled accomplishments have put his face on esports’ move to the mainstream.
ana’s Affect on Esports
It is no surprise to esports enthusiasts that ana is recognized on Forbes’ list. His constant contribution to esports has granted him a spot with other distinguished individuals whose accomplishments have had an international impact. The first two-time The International (TI) champion achieved his historic feat with the same roster and in a back-to-back fashion.
From his wallet to a wall of fame, ana’s countless achievements are documented throughout professional gaming. Earning over six-million US dollars as an individual and over sixty-million for his organization, ana’s success has secured OG esports a spot in esports history.
Documenting his domination, Valve has inadvertently recorded an in-depth documentary of ana’s experiences at the pinnacle of esports. Each year, TI raises the standards for premier competitive gaming entertainment. In 2016, Valve started to create documentaries about the stories of the most successful players competing at TI. Staying honest to their intent, Valve’s ‘True Sight’ series about the top dota teams has spotlighted ana and OG for the last two years.
Making history and breaking record, Valve has most of ana’s success on film. In 2018, ana won his first TI, earning the largest prize pool in esports history at the time. The following year, the same roster won again, OG and ana became the first-ever two-time TI grand champions.
