The League of Legends mobile game is about ready to launch an alpha test as of June 2020, according to Riot Games. However, the real catch is the availability of invites. Only two countries will be given the opportunity to try this game early on.
Where the alpha will take place
League of Legends: Wild Rift, the title of their upcoming mobile version to the wildly-popular MOBA style game, will be headed to mobile devices and consoles this year. But only users from Brazil and the Philippines will get to test the game before anywhere else.
What else we know
This news comes as Riot Games responded to some community confusion over a faulty “testing” link that might have hinted toward Early Access being available for the game. But it wasn’t actually the case. Riot planned on giving some fans an early look, but it will be a “very limited alpha test” for users in Brazil and the Philippines.
Riot gave no information about how long this test would last, when it would expand to other countries, or even when a mobile release date would be expected for Wild Rift. The only thing that is for certain is this alpha test. This comes as the only news we’ve seen since the game was officially announced back in October 2019, apart from a short developer video in March that covered some changes in adapting the PC game to mobile devices and consoles.
Device requirements
The tweet gave no hints toward any actual release date, but it did give some projections for minimum device specifications. Android phones will require a minimum of 1.5GB RAM, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, and an Adreno 306 GPU. At launch, the game’s developers hope to support 32-bit Android processors.
As for iOS devices, Wild Rift will run on the iPhone 6 or newer. This is slightly more stringent than the previously-announced iPhone 5S threshold, but should cater to the majority of iOS users.
We’ll have to see how the requirements further change when some proper testing is done.
