SlashShout | FAKER DONATES $25,000 TOWARD FIGHTING THE CORONAVIRUS

In the wake of this ever-spreading epidemic that has claimed thousands of lives in the Asian region, people are working to make a difference. Once such individual is League of Legends player Faker, who just donated $25,000 (30 million South Korean won) toward COVID-19 cases. This comes as the LCK was postponed on Friday, March 6 for the safety of the players. As a result, the event will remain on hiatus for the foreseeable future, or until the Coronavirus becomes more fully contained.

Some statistics on the Coronavirus: The number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in South Korea has surpassed 7,000, making it the second-largest number of confirmed cases of any country after China. Most than 110,000 people have been affected by the virus worldwide, with a staggering nearly 4,000 confirmed deaths.

Donating to the cause: Faker is just one of many League of Legends players donating to prevent the spread of the virus. For example, FunPlus Phoenix’s Doinb contributed in January and DragonX’s Chovy did the same earlier this month. Each player from the T1 organization will likewise be donating this week’s streaming proceeds to the cause. “I felt devastated for those that are working day and night to battle the COVID-19,” Faker said. “I really wanted to aid those battling the outbreak and felt that donating to the Community Chest of Korea was the optimal choice. I hope that everyone bands together to overcome this terrible situation, and hope to see real support being given to those necessary.”
