TEKKEN WORLD TOUR SEASON FIVE ANNOUNCED

Tekken image

Tekken 7 is one of the biggest fighting game titles in the world currently, and there seems to be no stopping the growth of its competitive World Tour pro circuit. An impressive 750,000 viewers watched last year’s grand finals, and the just-announced 2020 season is even bigger in scope. With a $200,000 prize pool and 30 events spread out over four ranks and eight months, this will be an inventive for more competitors to take part in the scene. The circuit will culminate at the 2020 Tekken World Tour Finals on Dec. 12 in New Orleans.

The three returning events are classified as Dojo, Challenger, and Master levels. Dojo events are for entry-level participants, and will allow players to receive points on the World Tour Leaderboard. Master events give players more points than either Dojo or Challenger events. You can see all three formats represented on the World Tour’s schedule.

If you find yourself at events like Combo Breaker, Evo, or CEO this year, you’ll definitely see some Tekken pro-circuit action. World Tour kicks off with the Tokyo Tekken Masters Tournament on April 4, the first Master-level competition of the year. If the turnout rates continue to climb, expect further expansion in 2021.
